Title : Comparative Study of Sickle Cell Diseases in Different Age Groups of Far-Western Terai Region of Nepal[Paper-1(Research Paper)]
Authors : Nitesh Kumar Sah, Yubraj Bhatta
Abstract :
Sickle cell disease (SCD) is a group of genetically inherited autosomal disorders that results from the production of abnormal hemoglobin called as hemoglobin S (HbS). It is a recessive condition in which an individual possesses two copies of the gene to acquire SCD. SCD is characterized by different episodes of pain, hemolytic anemia, chest pain, a bout of fever, and cough which is prevalent in Mediterranean, sub-Saharian African, Indian, Bangladeshi, and Nepali. In Nepal majority of SCD cases have been reported in Tharu people who contract malaria seven times more than other Nepalese people. The molecular basis for the synthesis of hemoglobin S (HbS) in SCD is a single base pair point mutation occurring in the beta gene of hemoglobin A where amino acid valine is substituted for glutamic acid at position 6 of beta-globin chain.

This study is a brief survey of personal experiences, opinions, and beliefs in a group of 350 healthcare professionals in an urban setting in India. The study aims to explore the underlying attitudes and practices in doctors working in India in the current circumstances, as opposed to global affairs. Title : Midline Primary Retroperitoneal Mature Teratoma in an Infant[Paper-4(Case Report)]
Authors : Ambar Prakash, Ravi Ranjan, Shekhar Chaudhary, Praveen Jhanwar
Abstract :
Teratomas are tumors that arise from germ cells and can be present in gonads or other regions of the body and consist of tissues of all three germ cell layers. Primary teratomas, which have not spread from any gonadal organs, in the midline retroperitoneal region are particularly rare. They account for 1-11% of all retroperitoneal neoplasms. We report a case of a Midline Primary Retroperitoneal Mature Teratoma in an 11-month-old child. The characteristic imaging findings revealed a combination of different tissues in the tumor. Successful surgery was performed to excise the tumor completely, and the child is doing well. Careful clinical examination, timely imaging, and skillful surgical management are crucial to tackling the tumor.

Title : Mantoux Test: Forgotten But Still Relevant[Paper-5(Case Report)]
Authors : Hritvik Jaiswal, KR Sharma, Jagdish Vishnoi, Saurabh Gupta
Abstract :
Tuberculosis (TB) is a major public health problem worldwide. India accounts for 1/4th of the global cases. Pulmonary TB is common in males whereas genital TB is common among females, usually in the latent form. Female genital TB presents as chronic infertility resulting from unilateral or bilateral tubal block. It is an important cause of failure of assisted reproductive techniques. We have various tools to diagnose TB, but genital TB has some limitations particularly due to deep seated involvement of the fallopian tubes. Mantoux test appears to be a useful tool in such cases. The present case highlights how the diagnosis of genital TB was missed in an infertile woman in spite of using routine testing methods and Mantoux test paved the way towards the right direction; and the treatment resulted in successful outcome.

Title : The Ocular Surface Chemical Injuries: A Review[Paper-7(Review)]
Authors : Sagar Dhillon, Rajendra Choudhary
Abstract :
Chemical burns are serious ocular emergencies that require early evaluation and immediate management since they can result in blindness. The majority of casualties are children, and these injuries take place at home, at work, while playing and can also occur as intentional crimes. Injuries from alkali happen more common and severe than those from acids. Chemical eye injuries result in severe damage to the cornea, anterior segment, limbal stem cells, and ocular surface epithelium, which can cause impaired vision partially or permanently in one or both eyes. Therefore, emergency management is the most crucial element in selecting the visual outcome.
